Sony VAIO VGN-FW260J/B 16.4-Inch Laptop Review from Hunter Armin Haghighi. Forget about Games!!! It can’t even run Indiana Jones & The Infernal Machine Which I Used to play with my PII and 16MB VGA!!!, Here Are detailed Specifications of this lap top which are not listed :
1. Thanks to Optiarc 5500S Which is istalled on this computer, It can read and WRITE Blu-ray disc. Yes it’s not listed but it can write! and there are even instruction in the box on how to burn Blu-rays.
2. Intel 4500 Graphics chipset with 128 MB dedicated graphics memory and the ability to share up to 1750 MB of system physical memory. You may not be able to run dozens of modern 3D game on this lap top despite to huge amount of graphics memory available because Laptop mobile graphic chipsets are designed to not producing so much heat and no need to mention that they are much weaker than Desktop VGA chipsets
3. Windows vista 64 bit Home. In addition to some security enhancements which are not recognizable with ordinary users, It can recognize up to 16 GB of physical memory (4 GB Pre-istalled on this system), and I don’t know if you can uprade the amount of physical memory or it met with it’s maximum capasity, You find out!
4. Standard battery life which is up to 2.5 hours in standard use (Without plugging any external hard discs & other devices)
5. Screen resolution of 1600*900 which although is not full HD but still far better than most other laptops
there are some goofs about this laptop too :
1. Speakers are weak with no bass at all, listening to music using laptop’s pre-installed speakers would not be a pleasure at all but The Realtek HD sound chipset is work pretty well on big screen via HDMI output
2. Microsoft office keeps asking you for the serial number and after 25 times of running without entering serial number will be locked! I can’t find any serial number for microsoft office on this system and it’s package
3. Duo to 64 bit windows, you may experience some problems with ordinary programs written to run under 32 bit systems, no need to mention that programs written under 16 bit systems won’t work on this system at all
4. Don’t expect to play Call of duty or similar games on this system, 3D acceleration is extremely weak
5. Hard disc is a bit noisy, not that noisy but it may get on some people’s nerves in long run
